April 19th, 2009

Choosing the ideal vacation getaway is tough.  Practically, in today’s hectic paced lifestyle you are competing with all of the obligations and time pressures you face in your daily life.  Occasionally it is helpful to gain a fresh perspective on destination opportunities that you may not have thought about before.  A North Dakota vacation provides you a chance to find something that you may not be able to find in your own state.

If you are seeking romance or relaxation on your vacation getaway, you will appreciate it more greatly if you take a little thought to plan part of your vacation in advance.  For the outdoor seeking vacationer, consider the weather forecasts of the region that you will be venturing into so that you can bring the appropriate equipment and protection to make your trip comfortable and fun.  There can be significant swings in weather between days and night.

One of the ideal state destination is North Dakota, where you will find too much to see and do.  Here are a sampling of the North Dakota attractions you may want to see:

Idea #1: The Enchanted Highway - Regent, North Dakota. The Enchanted Highway is the artistic creation of local Regent resident, Gary Greff. The Enchanted Highway is a series of metal sculptures that stand along the highway. The Tin Pa is 45 feet tall, the Tin Ma is 44 feet tall and the Tin Son is 23 feet tall. The sculpture, “Theodore Roosevelt Rides Again” was erected in 1993. The “Geese in Flight” sculpture was erected in 2001.

Idea #2:  Writing Rocks State Historic Site - Grenora, North Dakota. Petroglyphs are pictures or patterns that have been chiseled into the rocks by people that have no written language. In 1931 two brothers, Henry and Edgar Syverud, formed the Writing Rock Historical Society, and five years later the Society purchased the site surrounding the two rocks. Today Writing Rocks State Historic Site includes a playground and picnic shelters for visitors to enjoy as they study the rocks for themselves.

Certainly there are many other destinations that you may want to experience on your North Dakota vacation.  You might only be here for a brief period of time, but you can appreciate and capture much of the wonderful culture, heritage, and fun that the state has to offer.  You never will never be bored  - check out this North Dakota tourism video – there is always a new adventure waiting for you.

Even in the current economic climate, North Dakota is cost effective vacation escape.  It is possible to take advantage of a variety of discount packages with the special deals that are available which enable you to get away from it all without breaking the bank.  So take a escape from the frantic schedule that daily routine brings and discover a vacation getaway and discover a taste of what this great countryside has to offer!
