Tips for a Productive Commute

April 21st, 2009

Do you have a half hour or longer commute? If so, you may feel like you’re wasting 5 hours a week with the task of driving. Many people do unsafe things like talking on a cellphone, text messaging, even reading the newspaper while they drive. Why? To regain some of that lost time. But there are plenty of safer ways to get something accomplished while you’re stuck in traffic.

Relax. This ought to be the easiest one, but sometimes isn’t. Turn on some music, drive a little slower and just use the time to relax. Remind yourself that everybody needs a little down time, so that’s productive, too. You’ll probably find this a lot easier to do part of the time, if you do something else at other times, so here are a few ideas.

  • Listen to an audiobook. Whether it’s just the novel you don’t have time to read or a business book to help your career or finances.
  • Brush up on a foreign language. Publishers like Pimsleur and Berlitz offer CDs, tapes and even downloadable MP3s specifically designed for learning a language while you drive. Here’s a useful skill that also helps sharpen the brain generally.
  • Listen to news or talk radio. No matter your interest, there’s probably a talk radio program available to fit – from personal advice to pets to cars to cigars, talk radio is about a lot more than just current events. (Just remember when you’re ready to call in to a talk radio program that the number 4 tip in my list of 12 tips for calling a talk radio show is “don’t use a cellphone!” Wait for the phone call until you’re out of the car.)

Hawaii Vacation Rental – Easier Than a Hotel

April 19th, 2009

When going on vacation, accommodations are always an important consideration. Most of us usually think of a hotel or motel and often a big chain with a familiar name and that’s the end of it, but there is an attractive alternative, even in a tropical paradise. A Hawaii vacation condo may be the very thing you are looking for to make your stay even more enjoyable.

Whether you look at villas or houses, or Hawaii condo rentals, choosing a rental has many things to recommend it. With a Hawaii vacation rental, you have privacy and often quiet you would never have in a hotel or motel. You don’t have to worry about staff coming in and out of your room and you may feel more relaxed and secure in a more home like setting.

Another perk is the freedom to make some of your meals instead of eating out, which can mean savings that can more than pay for that Hawaii vacation rental. You certainly don’t have to chain yourself to the kitchen and do all the cooking, but it’s more convenient as well as cheaper to fix a bowl of cereal and brew a cup of great Kona coffee in your bathrobe than it is to dress and go to the restaurant. You don’t have to worry about what time the dining room closes either.

While some hotel rooms may have kitchenettes, a rental will almost always have a full size and fully equipped kitchen and be more versatile. Eating on a private balcony or around a familiar dining table can also feel more “homey” and help you relax. A rental may also be much more luxurious than a hotel would be for the same amount per day.

For long stays or visits of just a few days, Hawaii vacation rentals can be found. You can do a search on the internet or use a good travel agent to help find these properties with relative ease. You can also pick and choose locations. If, for example, a Kauai vacation rental comes with a great price or special offer, you might decide this is the island you want to visit!

The slight negative to having a Hawaiian vacation rental is that it requires some work which would normally be included in a hotel stay. Some light cleaning, cooking, and making your own bed is a tiny inconvenience when you compare the comfort of being in an actual home compared to a commercial bedroom among many other rooms. A rental can actually be more relaxing and peaceful, and more memories to the vacation. You won’t even miss room service, since you can order pizza in Hawaii just like at home!

Find the perfect North Dakota vacation and escape for a lifetime

April 19th, 2009

Choosing the ideal vacation getaway is tough.  Practically, in today’s hectic paced lifestyle you are competing with all of the obligations and time pressures you face in your daily life.  Occasionally it is helpful to gain a fresh perspective on destination opportunities that you may not have thought about before.  A North Dakota vacation provides you a chance to find something that you may not be able to find in your own state.

If you are seeking romance or relaxation on your vacation getaway, you will appreciate it more greatly if you take a little thought to plan part of your vacation in advance.  For the outdoor seeking vacationer, consider the weather forecasts of the region that you will be venturing into so that you can bring the appropriate equipment and protection to make your trip comfortable and fun.  There can be significant swings in weather between days and night.

One of the ideal state destination is North Dakota, where you will find too much to see and do.  Here are a sampling of the North Dakota attractions you may want to see:

Idea #1: The Enchanted Highway – Regent, North Dakota. The Enchanted Highway is the artistic creation of local Regent resident, Gary Greff. The Enchanted Highway is a series of metal sculptures that stand along the highway. The Tin Pa is 45 feet tall, the Tin Ma is 44 feet tall and the Tin Son is 23 feet tall. The sculpture, “Theodore Roosevelt Rides Again” was erected in 1993. The “Geese in Flight” sculpture was erected in 2001.

Idea #2:  Writing Rocks State Historic Site – Grenora, North Dakota. Petroglyphs are pictures or patterns that have been chiseled into the rocks by people that have no written language. In 1931 two brothers, Henry and Edgar Syverud, formed the Writing Rock Historical Society, and five years later the Society purchased the site surrounding the two rocks. Today Writing Rocks State Historic Site includes a playground and picnic shelters for visitors to enjoy as they study the rocks for themselves.

Certainly there are many other destinations that you may want to experience on your North Dakota vacation.  You might only be here for a brief period of time, but you can appreciate and capture much of the wonderful culture, heritage, and fun that the state has to offer.  You never will never be bored  – check out this North Dakota tourism video – there is always a new adventure waiting for you.

Even in the current economic climate, North Dakota is cost effective vacation escape.  It is possible to take advantage of a variety of discount packages with the special deals that are available which enable you to get away from it all without breaking the bank.  So take a escape from the frantic schedule that daily routine brings and discover a vacation getaway and discover a taste of what this great countryside has to offer!

Great Holiday In Port Vila Vanuatu

April 19th, 2009

If you ever want to go on a great holiday, it has to be to Port Vila in Vanuatu. It is a great holiday destination and you get all the fun that anyone could ask for in a great break from your everyday life. The Melanesian people are super friendly and Vanuatu was recently voted the most friendly country in the world. Now that is a great award to win.

Port Vila Vanuatu

Port Vila is the capital of Vanuatu. They won independance from France and England in 1980 and changed name from New Hebrides to Vanuatu. There used to be 1,000,000 native Melanesians here but now the numbers are greatly reduced to 200,000. Nowadays Vanuatu relies heavily on tourism to keep their culture alive. The joint agreement between France and England made Vanuatu a peaceful place considering the immense rivalry that has existed between those European nations in the past.

Holiday Destination

Every year, over 60,000 visitors travel to vanuatu as a holiday destination. Considering the population of Vanuatu is not much bigger than that, it is a great feat. Port Vila has only 30,000 people and their friendliness makes up for the small numbers. We chose this as a destination for our internet marketing holiday to practice our social media skills and meet likeminded people. It certainly is a great place for that.

The Pacific island are very friendly and are a must go place for anyone considering a tropical holiday away from the western world. When vanuatu was voted the friendliest country in the world, they surely deserved the title. They smile from ear to ear and are always happy to please.

Consider Port Vila in Vanuatu for your next holiday. I have traveled there twice, the scuba diving is great and the adventures are plenty. Enjoy your next trip to Melanesia.

Earn Cash Online

April 18th, 2009

Making money using the internet as a retiree is when a person converts value into money. Given that money is a social resource, then making money means converting more value to that social resource, meaning more money. On the contrary, when you spend money, you convert money to value.

There are numerous ways of to how to make money online. One is to sell items like manufactured products, unwanted furniture, trash, used clothes. Whenever you sell something in exchange for money, then you are making money. Other options are; to buy goods from a supplier and sell them for a profit, as what convenience store owners do. Companies dig up resources all over the planet and sell them for a profit. Goods can be anything under the sun like objects, stocks, or bonds. To make these goods more attractive to buyers, some sellers attach a value or service to the goods being sold.

Getting a job is probably the most common way of making money. You get a job; you get paid for the hours and effort you put in for your employer. The greater your ability to personally deliver a high social value, the greater your earning potential becomes. This means that if a Corporate President earns 500000 pesos, a company driver makes only 8000 pesos because the corporate president has more social value.

This difference is not anyone’s “fault” – the discrepancy is due to the social value of certain jobs. Note the difference between absolute value and social value. Top athletes may not perform useful work in an absolute sense, but their compensation is based on the social value of their service.  For more information, please visit http://www.RetireWealthyClub.com.

Xbox 360

April 18th, 2009

Far be it from Microsoft to miss out on one of the top revenue producing products of this decade.  They’ve come to market with the XBox 360.  If you’re looking to spend the least amount of money when buying one then you should look at the XBox 360 Arcade version as it’s current price is just $199.   Tis is really the family-oriented version as the arcade games are suitable for all ages.  The memory on this one is fairly low at 256MB but it does come with a wireless controller.  This unit comes with virually no accessories, not even a second controller, but let’s you get started with the system and add-on as you see fit.

For an extra $100 you can move up to the XBox 360 Console unit.  It comes standard with a 60GB hard drive for storage and includes more accessories such as a wireless headset, a network cable and an A/V cable.  In additional to being backwards compatible for the older games this model also includes an HD output.

If you’re willing ot spare no expense then have a look at the XBox 360 Elite.  It comes with a gigantic 120GB hard drive!  It has a very cool black finish that makes it stand out from the other units.  Other included options are a network cable, HDMI cable and black controller and  headset.

Even with a recent price drop you’ll pay a lot for these systems through your local big box store.  You’re looking at $200 for the Arcade version, $300 for the Console and $400 for the Elite. You might have a hard time convincing your wife to spend that kind of money on a video game system.  Why not find an XBox 360 for sale cheap?  Don’t think you can only buy them at big box store and on Ebay.  Go to www.auctions4acause.com and you can find them for much less. This site has really been a gold nugget for me as it’s saved me a bunch of cash.  Take a look today, I guarantee it will be worth your time.

Car Insurance and Car Accidents

April 18th, 2009

Most people think of car insurance as a way to be sure they aren’t in trouble when an accident occurs. While there are other aspects to a car insurance policy, it’s true that most claims are in regards to accidents. Be prepared with your policy for such occurrences.

Every licensed driver has to have car insurance. Accidents are not only a danger to the insured driver but also to any other parties involved, and if the driver is at fault, sufficient coverage to foot the bills of additional individuals injured and property damaged is required by law. How much do you know about car insurance, accidents, and policies? Are you properly insured in case of an accident?

Every state has a minimum amount of coverage required, and they also set limits on the maximum deductible you can carry for the various coverage areas. For example, one state may require that you carry liability property damage insurance to cover at least $50,000 of damage and, should you still have a car note and are required to carry full insurance, your collision deductible may be limited to $5000. Of course, this is because, by carrying car insurance, accidents are meant to incur less up front cost and to assure that no driver is cheated out of his or her rightful health and property. Car insurance buying can be a real hassle.

Aside from meeting legal expectations with car insurance, accidents can be minimized by carrying other optional coverage as well. Take, for instance, a new car that is under full coverage. You have liability so the other driver and his property are covered should you be at fault, as well as collision and personal injury protection coverage to help pay your own bills. However, you may not have included options such as uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, which aids in the event that the other driver is at fault and has no insurance or insufficient insurance to pay your claim.

Also, you may want to consider towing and rental car insurance. Accidents often result in enough damage to the vehicle to incur a need for repairs. Sometimes, the car cannot even be driven away from the accident site and must be towed, adding expense to the stress level. If you carry towing insurance, your provider will reimburse you for this expense. Also, you may be without a mode of transportation while your car is being repaired, and for many this is unacceptable, since they have to work or have children to take to school. Opting into rental car insurance can relieve the stress of searching for a ride while your car is being repaired from the accident.

When it comes to car insurance, accidents are the number one reason for claims to be made. Car insurance finance charges are another consideration. Are you prepared for the day that you crash and burn and need assistance to foot a bill?

Naturally Improve The Digestive Tract With Apple Pectin

April 18th, 2009

An indigestible, soluble fiber, apple pectin is a general intestinal regulator that is used in many medicinal preparations, especially as an anti-diarrhea agent. Our ancestors believed the old proverb an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Today, nutritional scientists research for evidences that verify how apples are good for our health. Apples are rich in pectin, a soluble fiber, which is effective in lowering cholesterol levels and more.

Pectin from apples and pectin in general is classified as a soluble fiber. It has a gel forming effect when mixed with water. Since it is a dietary fiber, Apple Pectin is helpful in maintaining good digestive health. Pectin is defined as any of a group of white, amorphous, complex carbohydrates that occurs in ripe fruits and certain vegetables. Peaches, apples, currants, and plums are all fruits rich in Pectin.

The amount of pectin in the fruit depends partly on how ripe the fruit is. If the fruit is unripe, it has what is called Protopectin, which is converted into Pectin as the fruit ripens. When put in water, Pectin forms a colloidal solution, and gels on cooling. If the fuit is overripe, the Pectin becomes pectic acid, which does not form jelly with sugar solutions. If the fruit is just right and the acidity is optimum and the amount of Pectin is sufficient, the fruit can be cooked with the right amount of sugar and be made into jams and jellies.

Apple pectin is available at your local or internet vitamin store at discount prices. When purchasing pectin, look for name brands such as Source Naturals and Twinlab to ensure quality and purity of the product you purchase.

The Choices of Natural Stone

April 18th, 2009

Stones of the past seem to be the future!Stone is a product of nature and its appearance is a result of millions of years of geologic change and mineral composition. Extreme color variations, as well as variations in veining, shade, finish, texture, strength, hardness and density are all characteristics of natural stone. Some stones may contain a resin filler to fill in the natural fissures or pits in the stone’s surface. Special care is required for maintaining natural stone. Check with a local sales representative regarding the special needs for your stone selection. With proper care, its beauty will last a lifetime.

Granite:(Igneous Rock) Granite began as liquid magma in the earths core and is comprised mainly of quartz, feldspar, mica and other minerals. It’s high compressive strength, hardness and durability make it an ideal choice for flooring and counter tops as well as exterior applications.

Marble & Onyx: (Metamorphic Rock) Marble is formed from Limestone that has been heated by the earth’s core and changed into a crystalline structure. It is valued for its rich, beautiful colors and unique veining.

Limestone:(Sedimentary Rock) Limestone is comprised mainly of calcium carbonate and is the result of millions of years of sea shells and bones of sea creatures settling on the ocean floor. You can sometimes notice the fossils when examined closely.

Travertine: (Sedimentary Rock) Travertine began as Limestone and is a result of hot springs in the earth’s core. After the water evaporated, the layers of dissolved limestone and minerals gave the stone its banded appearance. The characteristic holes in the stone are a result from gas bubbles which evaporate and form crystals in the cavities. These cavities are sometimes left as is for a more rustic & antique look or filled with a tinted epoxy and honed for a more solid surface effect.

Slate:(Metamorphic) Slate is formed from compressed layers of the sedimentary rock shale that can be split to reveal beautiful colors and textured surfaces. Slate can be split and left with its natural cleft surface or gauged for a more consistent thickness.

Quartzite: (Metamorphic) Similar to slate, quartzite contains 95% quartz and a higher concentration of mica which gives it a sparkling texture. The current trend in stone is definitely travertine – as old looking as possible.

There are several things that can be done to stone to create new finishes. Here is a list of popular finishes:

Antiqued:This can mean different things to different manufacturers. The surface is usually brushed or honed with different pads, creating an old look. Sometimes the surface is acid washed, exposing a dimpled surface (this works especially well with travertine). The edges tend to have a chipped or tumbled look. Basically the stone looks like it’s been around a while.

Brushed:Wire brushes are used on the surface to create an undulated look.Chiseled: There are various methods used to produce this look, but basically the edges come out chipped. Generally the surface of the tile is honed or brushed.

Cobbled:Basically the same as chiseled, but the chips aren’t as deep.Honed: A matte surface is created similar to polishing, minus the last few pads. High Hone:A matte finish with a soft sheen, between honed and polished.Polished: Pads are used to create a glossy sheen on the surface of the stone.

Tumbling: Tumbled stones are put in a big cylinder and tumbled with other stones and smaller stones to create a rounded edge and softer finish. Length of time in the “Tumbler” determines how rounded the edges are. Softer stones, such as travertine, tend to have a more rounded edge than harder stones, such as marble.
