Your Furniture Move Can be Painless

July 27th, 2009

What is the largest and heaviest of our belongings that we all must move when moving from one place to another? Yip, you guessed it. Furniture is heavy bulky and can be down right impossible to get through door ways and up tricky flights of stairs. If you want to have a much easier move and you also want to save a bit of money then you can hire people to do your furniture move while you box up and move everything else. If you have a lot of heavy furniture or live in a high-rise building then get professionals for your furniture move is going to be worth it. Whether you take my advice or not here are a few things to keep in mind before you move your furniture.

Plan Ahead

You got that furniture into the place you live so you know what it is going to take to get it out, but you need to consider the difficulties of getting that same furniture into your new place. Doorways might be a bit smaller, ceilings lower, corners and stairs could even be trickier. Take your furniture apart as much as possible so that you won’t have trouble getting it into its new home.

Hire Help

I still strongly recommend hiring help moving your furniture. If you do take this advice than you will need to book movers ahead of time. Keep in mind time of year will directly effect how hard it is going to be to get your desired dates for your move. Unless you all ready know some good furniture movers then you will need time to get some good references from friends or do some research to know which of your local movers will be the best.

Have Proper Equipment

If you plan on moving your own furniture then make sure you have the best equipment on hand to make the move easier. You don’t want to hurt yourself and you certainly don’t want to have to run out on moving day to find what you need. Consider getting moving blankets, a heavy duty hand truck, and traps. Also don’t forget to get a rental tuck.

Wedding Planning Tips You Might Be Interested

July 27th, 2009

Planning a wedding is not easy! Allow me to guide through the aspects of perfect wedding planning.

When you first begin planning a wedding, take a minute to step back, relax and organize your thoughts. Follow some seemingly simple steps, and planning a wedding can be a wonderful and memorable experience.

Establish a budget, stick to it and don’t deviate. This is often a neglected characteristic of planning a wedding. It is essential to get your budget in order before making any financial decisions. Too often, many couples book a reception location or a wedding day professionals without solid financials in hand, only to find out they have overspent and are now bound by a contract.

Compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. Many times, when a bride begins a search for a reception location or for wedding vendors, she simply compares prices, not services or characteristics of the services. It is rare that you will find two locations offering the exact same ‘package’, or two videographers that offer the same quality of service (time and style) and amount of product (prints and albums). You need to carefully evaluate each aspect of the potential venue or vendor. What seems too expensive at first glance may actually be a better deal when you realize what it offers compares to others in the same category.

Think out of the box. Hiring a wedding planner or event designer, even for a few hours, can help you be inspired and lead to amazing results. Instead of a guest book, have guests sign a coffee table book on a subject that is of interest to you. Learn an unexpected choreographed first dance, like the tango, and wow the crowd.

Make your ceremony mean something. The best way to do this is to write your own vows and/or select special poems, readings or Biblical verses.

Create a timeline for the wedding day. If you are not working with a wedding planner, it is your job to create a realistic timeline for everyone to follow. Detail and document all key elements and activities that are to take place on the day. Include addresses of locations and who needs to be where and when. If you do not do this, you take the risk of all the wedding vendors establishing their own agendas.

Ask for help when you need it. It is not uncommon for a bride or groom to become overwhelmed with wedding planning. It takes a lot of time, dedication and work. Typically there are many people knocking at your door anxious to help - your future mother in law, your mother, your sister, his sister, your best friend, your single best friend…the list can go on forever. When asking for help from friends or family members, give them specific instructions and deadlines. Also, make sure they know you still have final say.

Of course these are not the only steps to planning a wedding, but these are very important aspects of planning that will help you keep your sanity and your focus on the reason for this whole crazy thing, love. I hope you have been able to gain something from this article, thanks for reading.

How To Buy Wonderful Personalized Gifts For Your Loved Ones

July 26th, 2009

I am normally a very giving person. I like to give up a lot of my time, energy and passion to nearly everything that I do. But there is one thing that I am not very good at and that is buying gifts for other people, family members, and friends. I have a number of family members and friends are currently in need of different types of gift items. And I do not have any idea what to get any of them. All I know is that I would like to get them a personalized gift of some sort. I think personalized gifts or good and valuable because they showed that the person trying to give really cared about the recipient.

In my quest for different types of gifts. I will be needing baptism gifts, engagement gifts, and even Irish gifts. I have some friends who lives in Ireland that are having a birthday party. And I like to send them a few personalized Irish gift item as well. I also have some friends who are retiring so a retirement gifts is also required.

After spending a few hours on different types of personalized gifts websites, I have at least a few ideas of the types of gifts that I want to buy. You can choose all types of Valentine gifts or even other different gifts and have them either engraved, embroidered or even laser etched. This way the gifts will have their name, date or even their initials on them. I think everyone likes to have personalized gift items because it shows everyone else that the thing that they have received its actually theirs.

Handy Ideas To Follow When Shopping For Functional Memory Foam

July 25th, 2009

Shopping for a memory foam mattress can be a little overwhelming. There are so many choices available and so many new terms to learn that it can be hard to figure things out. The three things you will want to be familiar with when shopping are foam density, thickness, and temperature sensitivity.

Knowing a little about each of these can allow you to choose the right memory foam product for your needs. Not every memory foam mattress includes temperature sensitivity. That is unfortunate as it is one of the most important features of memory foam. The memory foam will not be as comfortable without it. If you are able to buy a memory foam mattress that adjusts to the temperature you will be glad you made the investment.

This allows the mattress to absorb your body heat and become softer in key areas. When buying memory foam mattress bedding you need to find one with a thick layer of memory foam on the top of the mattress. Look for one with at least three and a half inches of memory foam on the top. A thin layer of memory foam will not provide the same amount of comfort.

Density is another important thing to look when buying a memory foam mattress. When they talk about density of a memory foam mattress they are speaking of the weight when measured in cubic feet. There is no clear consensus as to the ideal density of memory foam. It is common for retailers to attempt to sell you memory foam with a three pound density.

You will get much better support for your back, hips and shoulders if you select a memory foam mattress with a density of around 5.0 to 5.9 pounds. Products that are denser that this often will not give you the desired support. Whatever memory foam product you select be sure that it comes with a warranty. You can expect a high quality memory foam mattress to have a warranty of around 20 to 25 years.

Wireless POS Systems And Mobile Payments Increases Business Profits

July 25th, 2009

Until recently, restaurant and hospitality owners were wary of adopting wireless POS systems for their establishments. Issues such a cost, ease of use and a general uncertainty about new technology caused them to take pause. Nowadays, however, with the popularity of PDA’s, Blackberries, cell phones and the like, mobile technology and wireless mobile computing has become main stream, and hospitality providers are taking a second look.

In a high cost and competitive market, it’s no wonder that those in the hospitality industry want technology to help them increase revenues. But how can a wireless POS device help them achieve this?

Wireless mobile computing can help in many ways. One such instance is by eliminating the need for staff to line up at a specific POS terminal to place orders. By utilizing mobile technology, serving staff are more productive since time spent during the order taking process is decreased. Wireless mobile computing also allows serving staff to place orders instantly, and then go directly to the next table, thereby increasing table turns. And because serving staff are more productive, significant savings can be seen through decreased labor costs.

Another drawback to stationary POS terminals is that serving staff usually place a number of orders at once to the kitchen, overwhelming kitchen staff. Placing orders tableside eliminates this problem, as orders are more evenly spaced.

One important benefit to also consider with a wireless POS solution is that by placing orders directly at the table, order taking is more accurate and less food is wasted. This directly translates into decreased food costs. Also, serving staff can spend more time with customers, which significantly increases up-sell opportunities.

Utilizing wireless mobile computing in a hospitality environment also allows restaurateurs to approach staffing in a more cost effective and efficient way. Instead of scheduling a large number of serving staff who are responsible for all the order taking and food delivery, a wireless POS solution allows restaurant owners the opportunity to hire just a few skilled staff, give them larger sections, and make their primary focus greeting customers, taking orders and up selling. Non-serving staff can then be hired (at significant payroll savings) to dispatch food and clean sections. When serving staff are able to remain on the floor, the result is superior customer service and again increased sales through up selling and faster table turns.

One company, Volante POS Systems of Toronto, Canada has come along and revolutionized the wireless POS industry in a creative and innovative way. By using PC notebooks (not much bigger then a handheld) the entire POS software is loaded on the unit and it runs as a terminal with peer to peer, data synching etc. PDA’s don’t work in this manner- they require writing to the unit (in other words, new code, separate product) plus they’re not robust enough for Food and beverage. Volante has evolved its software into the peer to peer architecture, and now POS software can be loaded onto a small wireless notebook with amazing results. The technology is revolutionary - nobody else can do what Volante is doing.

This approach can work exceptionally well in venues that aren’t traditional table side establishments, such as stadiums, trade shows, casinos, arenas, race tracks and outdoor sales areas (such as rooftop patios for instance) where conventional POS terminals aren’t practical nor feasible.

Wireless mobile computing from Volante offers even more important and innovative features. For instance, the menus on the notebook or handhelds are the exact same menus as on the traditional register. The databases are in sync with one another. You don’t have to program them separately; they’re an extension of the host computer. This approach is less expensive because it doesn’t require separate servers for handhelds and traditional registers. And because Volante POS software is written in pure Java, its real time as well.

Another company, Double Diamond Group, is more of a payments industry consultant and offers a range of services including strategic consulting, project execution and business development, targeting companies across the electronic payments spectrum.

For more information on mobile payments consulting and how wireless POS technology and wireless mobile computing can help your business increase profits and productivity, visit Double Diamond Group.

Wireless POS solutions truly allow Hospitality leaders to enter the 21st century, while also giving them an extra edge in a fiercely competitive industry.

Embrace the Colors of Asia & all it Proposes

July 25th, 2009

Hong Kong is one of various gateways into Southeast Asia and China. On its own, this Chinese cultural hotpot is a crammed, newly handed-over British outpost with an shocking population of 7 million people and is one of the key economies of the Pacific Rim. Skyscrapers speckle its skyline, showing its visitors a dazzling picture of its metropolitan beauty. Uncovering cheap Hong Kong hotels in its labyrinth of streets and urban chaos isn’t too difficult at all! While there, submerge in the culture of the local community, pamper yourself with the myriad shopping opportunities and culinary delights! Take in the hustle of this city, the compulsive materialism and the compulsion with shopping, money and brand names in Hong Kong. Armed with excellent infrastructure, an effective underground system and all the other facilities of an international city, Hong Kong is certainly, not a place to recuperate from a headache, but it’s difficult not to enjoy the absolute liveliness of its street and commercial life.

Singapore, hardly a point on the world map, is a city most people would imagine can be seen in a mere three days. But to set eyes on all the places of interest and get under the skin of this charming place and recognize the value of its history, people and rich cultural diversity, definitely deserves a lengthier stay. This urban sprawl still radiates a resilient air of colonialism with its well refurbished government buildings, cathedrals, churches and most remarkably, the legendary Raffles Hotel and the 1st municipal market of 1894 now turned thriving food centre - Lau Pa Sat Festival Market. Wander down the Singapore River - the very starting point of Singapore’s opulence. Set your eyes upon Singapore’s tourism icon, the Merlion, standing guard and steadfast at the mouth of the river. Most of these historical landmarks are a short distance from the cheap Singapore hotels that fleck the island. You will unearth good quality accommodation amongst the island’s conservation houses and skyscrapers. Push your way through the crowds at Orchard Road, Singapore’s prime shopping belt, and do what young and trendy Singaporeans do best—shop, catwalk and show off their newest buys, or watch the fashion parade pass even as you dine at the scores of modern alfresco eateries. Not only is Singapore a shopping haven, it is a tantalizing fare for your tastebuds too! Feast on the infamous chilli or pepper crabs, the Hainanese chicken rice, rich-tasting Laksa and spicy Peranakan cuisine that is unique to only Singapore.

The frantic pace and imperfect modernity of Bangkok match hardly anyone’s image of the capital of bizarre Siam. This enormous land has a population above 9 million. This comparatively juvenile capital has seen a surge of renewal since the mid-1960s. Bangkok pleasantly combines technology with culture. Lofty skyscrapers fill the same skyline as opulent temples, tuk-tuks (three-wheeled taxis) wind between noisy automobiles, and floating markets and upscale restaurants make up the culinary world. You’ll see a heady mix of hectic markets and quiet golden temples, of glossy cutting-edge clubs and early-morning almsgiving ceremonies. Bangkok’s tourism industry is blossoming. Boutique hotels and the major players of the hotel industry have proliferated everywhere in the city centre. In the face of the surge of tourists where one would expect hotel rates to be inflated, all that zeal for a slice of the tourism pie has made it a lot easier than we believe it to be to find cheap Bangkok hotels.

Get Paid To Click

July 25th, 2009

There are a lot of ways to make money online. Paid-to-Click has been my favorite because I see results and I have had the most success with it. I have come across some great opportunities while viewing my advertisements for the paid to click sites. That brings me to another rule — try not to sign up for anything when you are viewing ads. When you start reading the ads and checking them out it really starts digging into your time and soon you have joined more programs than you can keep track of — most of which will promise the world and will never deliver. Sometimes you will want a break and it’s OK to read the occasional ads, just be careful because this can start to take a lot of time.

I have been trying to make money on the internet for over 5 years now. My first attempt was through paid to read emails. When I think back now on the amount of time that I wasted reading emails and never received a single cent, it makes me sick. However, I did learn a lot in the process and that has assisted me to start seeing some great online earnings. The most important thing to realize is that paid to click sites are not going to make you rich. However, they can provide some much needed extra income. I have been able to pay for my quarterly car insurance more times than I can count from the money I’ve earned from these paid to click programs.

The reason why I made this page is because I want people to be able to avoid the frustrations that I went through before I was able to earn money over the internet. Unfortunately, there seems to be more scam Paid to Click sites than legitimate ones. That being said, I have only put sites here that have paid me and that I trust.

The absolute best site that I have ever joined is HITS4PAY. This site has been around for over 10 years. Longevity is something that is almost nonexistent in this industry. Instead of joining the newest site that will probably be gone in a month, stick with a site that you know will be around tomorrow and has an excellent payout record. They pay you 2 cents for each click and 1 cent for your referrals’ clicks two levels deep. They also give you a $10 sign up bonus which makes that $25 payout a lot easier to reach. This is a very reliable and respectable PTC site and one of the few that still offers Paypal as a payment option.

My second favorite site is DealsnCash and I am kicking myself for not joining it sooner. This is a site that is run by the same reputable people as Hits4pay so I know that they will pay and have quality ads to click on. They also give you $.02 for every ad your referrals click on. $25 minimum payout.

My third favorite site is the first site that I ever joined, Clixsense. They have been very reliable and have a lot of ads to click on. I would rank them higher though if they credit you from your referrals ad views, but right now you only earn from your own clicks and one time commission for every referral registration up to 5 levels deep. Other than that it’s a great site, pays on time every time, and has a lot of daily ads. If you decide to upgrade to a premium membership you will usually get about 400-500 new ads when you complete the upgrade. They have quite a few ads for non-premium members too though. $10 is the minimum payout.

You might want to check out this list of high-paying paid to click sites I came across  a couple of years ago. Since I joined these programs there was no looking back. Note that all the programs in the list are FREE to join. Simply register and start earning. I’m earning at least 100 bucks a month between them. Not that much but it covers some of my utility bills.

How Modern Eyeglasses Came to Be

July 25th, 2009

The American man of science, Benjamin Franklin, who endured both nearsightedness as well as presbyopia, invented bifocal reading glasses in 1784 to obviate having to frequently switch between two pairs of eyeglasses.

The first lenses for repairing astigmia were manufactured by the British stargazer George Airy within 1825.

Along the history of bifocal glasses, the building of spectacle frames also developed. Early on oculars were contrived to be either held in place with hand or by maintaining force on the nose. Girolamo Savonarola advised that oculars could be held in place with a ribbon passed over the subject’s head, this in turn fastened by the weight of a hat.

Entering modern bifocal history, the contemporary fashion of bifocal reading glasses supported by temples passing over the ears, was produced in 1727 by the British lens maker Edward Scarlett. These designs were not at once prosperous, however, and assorted styles with attached handles like “scissors-glasses” and lorgnettes stayed fashionable throughout the eighteenth and into the early nineteenth century.

In the early twentieth century, Moritz von Rohr at Zeiss made the Zeiss Punktal spherical point-focus lens system which controlled the eyeglass lens domain for many years.

Despite the improving fame of contacts and laser restorative eye surgery, spectacles stay quite popular, as their engineering has continued to improve. For example, it’s currently possible to buy frames constituted of special memory metal alloys that return to their correct configuration after being bent. Other frames have spring-loaded hinges.

Glasses have come a long way, haven’t they? In fact, today you can even buy rimless bifocal glasses.

Most of these designs are also distinctly better able to resist the stresses of day-to-day wear as well as the periodic accident. Modern frames are likewise ofttimes made from robust, light-weight materials like titanium alloys which were not obtainable in earlier days.
