My Boys Bedding Shopping Trip to the Mall

August 31st, 2009

Why did it ever take so long? I cannot believe that my husband did not tell me about my son for over two weeks. Let me back up. My son David is almost three years old. His birthday is coming up in three weeks. For his birthday present, my husband and I were thinking about redecorating his bedroom. We tried to ask him what type of kids room décor or kids wall art that he would like. But being a two year old boy. He did not have much of a reply.

So we went shopping at the local mall. Mainly to get some ideas and see what kind of boys bedroom theme and design are available. As we were walking by, we saw a display of pirates and boy construction sets. I asked David whether he was interested in boys pirates bedding in his room. He quietly nodded. My husband than ask whether he prefer that or boys safari bedding instead. Now David was getting confused and did not know what to think. So my husband and I decided to postpone our boys bedroom décor trip for another day.

So yesterday my husband came home from work. And much to my surprise he walks in with a set of boys fire truck bedding. It was not something we were have agreed upon. I really hope with David’s birthday rolls around, that he would like this type of bedding. I really hope so for my husband’s sake. I do know that he likes the red color of the boys bedding though.

Establishing Employee Satisfaction

August 31st, 2009

I am not happy. The printer has still not been fixed and now my chair is broken. The problem with this place is that it is falling apart. My boss is okay but has no clue what is going on.

There was a new person that started last month, no one bothered to introduce them and they were given a job that they had no clue how to do; why didn’t they ask me to look after him? For a start I could have let them know them a new set of plans have been released so even if they did know what they were doing the drawings they are using are out of date anyway. I don’t know why I bother sometimes.

Some of us went out for a drink after work last night. No one is happy and Sally from Accounts says that she has just about had enough and is thinking of asking for a rise and if they don’t give it to her she is going to quit.

The management don’t have a clue, we are losing money through our inefficiencies and all they do is issue memo’s telling us of new procedures for claiming expenses as though it is going to make a difference to how efficient we are – whoopee do.

I think I’ll ask for a pay rise, if Sally from Accounts can get one I can.

And so it goes on.

When a company loses touch with their employees these are the sort of thoughts that start to play on the minds of individuals; the lack of appreciation, a broken chair, the blaming of ‘management’, even questioning the futility of what they are doing. Minor problems fester and it isn’t long before a cynical and destructive mindset develops. Can you be sure that this isn’t the sort of thing that is going on right now in your organisation?

Social events outside the office become nothing more than a forum for complaints and negativity grows among people who feel powerless to effect change. Dissatisfaction will often synthesise into a demand for an increase in remuneration, as though like a cheap fix more money will momentarily lessen the pain.

Left by management, undiscovered and unaware, the concerns of this employee will inevitable find solace with their colleagues own individual concerns, where the only common demand will be for an increase in remuneration, more paid holidays and a reduction in working hours, all of which will not fix the broken chair, ensure that new personnel are in future properly introduced, trained and managed nor help management identify areas of inefficiency.

Organisations have a habit of pigeon holing people, physically through offices, cubicles or workstations and also in terms of responsibility. With strong and effective management to support this structure it can be productive, but as an organisation grows, weak or inappropriate management can infiltrate the management chain and it is only to then be expected that cracks will begin to appear.

Looking at an organization from the top down all the corporate garden can appear to be in full bloom as middle management either disguise or are just unaware of festering problems.

A very skewed view can be the result of relying on a limited number of indicators, just as a one eyed person finds judging distance difficult. Good management will therefore establish procedures that sample the mood throughout the organisation from different perspectives providing a rounded picture.

The benefits of establishing good, frequent and extensive communication channels are both direct and indirect.

A senior management team that is known to have their ear to the ground will command great respect and will keep middle managers from becoming complacent knowing that they can no longer dismiss the senior managers searching “How is everything going?” question with a non-committal “Fine”; It is my experience that if someone replies with “fine” you need to dig deeper and ask if they really know what is going on.

Most principals of an organisation will not have the luxury of spending time walking the floor and discussing the issues of individuals but through online employee surveys they can achieve the same benefits and almost become omnipresent.

Online surveys provide an ideal method to establish good and effective communications between the employer and employee. Using a survey hosting service they can now be created and published with ease and speed.

Using the Internet and intranet surveys can be deployed in seconds, easily completed by employees and results can be displayed in real time allowing ‘problems’ and common themes of dissatisfaction to be identified early.

Online employee satisfaction surveys have the ability to get to the heart of an organisation, confirm not only that the engine room is working but that there is sufficient coal in the bunker.

There are considerable benefits to conducting online surveys, real issues can be identified and employees feel that they have a forum to express their concerns.

Online surveys will not in themselves resolve a problem but what they will do is give senior management the opportunity to address the problems and concerns of their employees, if people then leave the organisation they will at least hopefully be doing it for the right and not wrong reasons.

The grass will always appear greener on the other side but the underlying reasons for good people leaving an organisation are rarely purely monetary (although it is often cited as the reason) and more often to do with one or more of the following:-

  • the working environment;
  •

  • a lack of accomplishment
  •

  • insufficient training and feedback;
  •

  • lack of a career path;
  •

  • over worked;
  •

  • lack of trust and respect with the senior management.
  •

Good communication between the employer and employee can help identify the individual and common concerns of the employees and will give the senior management team the opportunity to address root problems and not just the symptoms of employee dissatisfaction, enabling them to demonstrate to their employees that they are valued as an important resource.

Each individual organisation needs to customised their own employee survey so that it is relevant for them. I invite you to put yourself in the place of an employee and complete the short sample employee survey, then view the results of the satisfaction questionnaire and just think of the benefits to management being able to measure so easily the heart beat of the organization.

Good Love Poems

August 31st, 2009

Have you ever read good love poems that brought tears to your eyes or a smile on your face? You know the kind, the kind where you wish you were on the receiving end of the good love poems, the one where you envy the person who has so much love in their life it almost makes you sick. Everyone has at one time or another in his or her life. You may have even received such a poem in the past. It can affect you profoundly just reading it. Imagine how the person felt for whom it was written.

Good love poems give hope, aspirations, and in some cases dreams. Good love poems can also be shared with the one you love. Share them with your closest friend, or just keep writing or reading and saving them for reflection when you reach your golden years. It does not matter if you wrote it or not, what matters is you took the time to find just the perfect good love poems that expressed the way you feel and shared it with the one you love.

Budding new romances are so fresh, vital, and exciting. They are so full of hopes and dreams and passion beyond belief at times. They are so full of good love poems deep down inside them just dying to bursts out. Why do you think that is? It is because when a relationship is fresh it is still being made a priority and part of that priority is sharing with one another how they feel. Often times they do that by sharing good love poems.

Have you ever thought of sharing good love poems when a relationship began to feel off balanced? When you are in a relationship and it is getting rather dull, spice it up, bring some of that newness back, and send your loved one good love poems. Let them know that no matter how many years you have been together that your love is still strong although you may not share your feelings the way you should.

Good love poems do not need to be shared with just a lover, there are good love poems that reflect the love of a sibling to their mother or father, or a sisters love for her sister or brother and visa versa. A good love poem can be written with the aspect of a best friend in mind, for the love or a pet, or even a childhood home. What makes good love poems? Good love poems are made from the heart of course, expressing true unbridled passion for what ever it one loves. That is what makes good love poems.

Benefits of Being Bilingual

August 31st, 2009

The language we speak shapes our thinking, our view of the world and our culture. To understand other people, other cultures it is important to be able to speak their language in order to deal with and understand them.  This is especially important in todays global economy and ever-shrinking world. Every day, through international trade, through instant electronic media such as television and the Internet, and through fast, cheap international travel, our world becomes smaller, our neighbors become closer.

The advantages of learning a foreign language are many. A second language is useful in travel, in commerce and in cultural understanding and communication.

One of the many benefits of learning a second language is that doing so develops your mental capacity and exercises brain cells, forming new neural pathways. This can be very important in staying mentally active and in preventing age-related loss of brain cells and memory capacity, even in preventing Alzheimer’s disease.

Why is it important to learn a second language? It is truly said that you do not fully understand your own language until you learn another and begin to compare the differences, similarities and nuances. Also, it is needed to commuicate with others.

The U.S. has the fifth largest concentration of native Spanish speakers of any country in the world! Can you communicate with your Latino neighbors? In Spanish?

When is the best time to learn another language? When we are young, pre-puberty. When you start young it is much easier to gain the additional benefit of being bilingual. Bilingual people can use and think in either of two different languages, and speak either as a native speaker, without a discernable accent. That level of proficiency is difficult to achieve if you start learning later in life.

There are many benefits of studying a foreign language, and a number of methods to learn any language rapidly and easily. Before you start, it’s a good idea to first get a book or two on methodology for learning another language rapidly and mastering it quickly. You always make progress more rapidly when you learn how to study efficiently first.

Then get yourself an interactive-audio language-learning course. Learn conversation first, the way you learned English. You start with a few words and concepts, use them in conversation, speaking, asking questions and answering questions. Then build on that, adding new words and how to express more complex ideas.

When you first went off to school, you already spoke pretty good English. You knew how to communicate, to carry on a conversation, without much emphasis on the formal structure of the language at all. If someone had asked you, before you got to the third grade, “What is grammar?” you might well have replied, “The lady who lives with Grampa!”

Web Prosperity Reviews - Does online hype sell?

August 30th, 2009

I see a lot of people writing reviews on the Web Prosperity program now, and some of them are just plain foolish in how they write their Web Prosperity reviews.

The very first Web Prosperity review that I saw was total, 100% hype, and I mean over the top hype.  The person was practically screaming on their web prosperity review and it was such a total turn off for me.  Therefore the hype did not work for me and I suspect that hype is a turn off for other prospects, too.

One of the next things I saw that was a total mistake, was that people were promoting the free angle of the program while it was in a pre-launch mode… This was stupid of them because they were basically advertising a program as being free knowing full well that it would cost money at some point.  This will lead to a massive attrition rate for the person who got people to join under him or her based on the free aspect they were pushing.

If you’re going to write a web prosperity review or any other type of product or program review, you’re most likely to give it a postive review to get a signup or a bad review to urge people to join something else.  The point to wriitng a review is either one of those, and if you don’t have a point or a purpose to writing your web prosperity review, then I suspect you might be wasting a lot of time online.

Dog Training Tip

August 30th, 2009

When it comes to dog training there really are no secrets. Every dog training tip is different but it has been used before and if they say its new, it means adapted. The simplest of tasks for an experienced dog master could be the hardest of tasks for the beginner. There are no magic potions, or miracle sayings that can make your dog do what you want. You have to spend time with him, loving him and training him.

Many people seem to “have a way with dogs” in the sense that they can ask your dog to do anything and your dog will adhere to their command straight away. You try the same thing five minutes later and your dog just stares at you blankly. It is true that some people have more of a chance getting dogs to do what they say, not because of some aura around them but because of experience and tone of voice.

One great dog training tip is your tone of voice. Your dog needs to know that you mean business but he has to know that you’re not angry at him. The handler must find a tone of voice that shows dominance but compassion. If you are constantly shouting at your dog he is going to get used to it, he will not know when he is doing something wrong because he doesn’t know when he is doing something right.

A lot of praise and attention is another great dog training tip. Dogs won’t learn the difference between good and bad unless the two states are treated differently. When your dog does something bad don’t “roar” at him, strictly tell him he was bad and not to do it again. Then when he does it right shower him with attention, treats and praise. Dogs come to learn that when they do something that they are told they will get rewarded for it and then after a while it just becomes second nature to them. Of course praise is still needed!

All dog training tips are different and one dog is not identical to the next, so try different tactics. It never hurts to keep trying. The most influence on your dog’s life is when they are 3-16 weeks; this is the time that molds them into the kind of dog they are going to be when they grow bigger. When you train your dog in these weeks this is what he will be doing for the rest of his life. Make sure you try a variety of the dog training tips available to you, some may work some may not but at least your giving your dog the best start in life.

If it’s opaque glass, you can clean your lamp with furniture polish made with lemon oil. Polish evenly with a clean rag. You can use glass cleaner to clean most lamps.
